Registered Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario. Massage therapy should be performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT or MT). They are the only people who are allowed to use that designation after their name. All Registered Massage Therapists have a unique registration number. This is also how you can I identify that they are a member in good standing of the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario.

Massage therapists provide hands on therapy. Generally Swedish massage is regarded as the most common form of massage. Swedish massage involves a combination of five basic strokes and concentrates on the muscles and connective tissues of the body for improved circulation, relaxation, pain relief, and overall health maintenance and well-being.

Massage Therapist treat a wide variety of ailments from pain relief, stress specific, work related, sports related, disease and prevention. Also treating back, neck & shoulder pain, whiplash, fibromylgia, headaches & migraines, muscular spasms & strains, repetitive injuries, growing pains, arthritis and pinched nerves resulting in numbness and tingling.

Deep tissue massage uses slow direct pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles with the fingers, thumbs or elbows. Deep tissue massage works deeply into the muscles and connective tissue to release chronic aches and pains. It’s purpose is to reach the fascia beneath the surface muscles and release it. You will be in control of the treatment at all times and if you prefer one style of massage over the other just let your therapist know.

NEW: Infrared Blanket Treatment
Infrared blanket therapy provides a deep penetrating warmth which relieves acute and chronic pain and helps speed up the body's natural healing process. It provides pain relief, improved skin and circulation and it enhances the immune system, reduces stress and strengthens your cardiovascular system. Benefits are most found in chronic muscle and joint pain sufferers, Fibromyalgia and MS sufferers, Acne, Eczema and Psoriasis. You can use the blanket alone for a half hour treatment or have it incorporated in your regular massage treatment. (*the information is referred from promolife.com)

Prenatal & Postnatal
Massage Therapy is provided to the pregnant woman with extra care and caution. The treatment usually focuses on alleviating associated pregnancy discomforts from sore back, neck and feet. The post natal treatments are focused on alleviating the woman’s once again constant changing posture. From Nursing Discomforts to Carrying Posture. We now offer the specially designed pregnancy massage table..

Infant & Child
Infant and Child massage is generally performed in smaller session times. It is commonly used to help alleviate Teething Discomforts, Gas or Constipation Pains, Growing Pains, Sports Injuries and Stress or Anxiety Relief. We often have the child watch one of their caregivers receive a massage treatment first to have them become comfortable with the atmosphere. During the treatment we often show the caregivers techniques to apply at home on the child when their discomforts are acting up.

Heated Stone Massage:
Hot stone massage is when basalt stones are used in the massage. Basalt stones are a black volcanic rock that absorbs and holds heat well. They are heated in hot water. It is a mild to moderately deep and soothing massage. The heat helps penetrate tight muscles and encourages them to release. Traditional Swedish massage is used while the therapist is holding the stone. When the stone cools the therapist replaces it with another heated stone and continues the massage.

Also effecting your emotions, and your health. For example if you were in a car accident and are having trouble dealing with the anxiety of the experience you could receive an EFT treatment to help elevate this problem. A simple overview of the technique is a series of tapping on certain meridian points of the body.

Salt Glow Therapy:
This is a full body treatment which uses a salt rub on the skin. This treatment exfoliates the skins surface leaving it feeling smooth and fresh. The popular seasons for this treatment are in the Spring and Fall. As it helps slough off dead winter skin or removes dead summer skin.

Paraffin Wax Treatments:
During a paraffin wax treatment your hands or feet will be dipped into the melted wax one or more times to coat the skin in generous layers. The hands or feet are then wrapped in plastic and a towel and left for up to half an hour.

Paraffin wax treatments are popular in the fall and winter because they are warming and because they help moisturize dry skin. Paraffin treatments help the pores to open and the skin to soften. Once the wax has hardened it can be peeled off. A paraffin wax treatment leaves the skin slick and soft.

Reiki:
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by hand positions or moving hands. It is based on the idea that energy flows through us. If one's energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
